Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-08-18

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the CheckMyDoc website and service (the “Service”) operated by CheckMyDoc (“we,” “our,” or “us”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you're using the Service on behalf of a company, you represent that you're authorized to bind that company.

1. The Service

CheckMyDoc is an AI-assisted contract-review tool. You upload documents; we classify them, surface findings and risks, and propose plain-English redlines. Outputs are produced by large language models — currently Anthropic's Claude models — and reflect their probabilistic nature: useful as a starting point for review, not a substitute for advice from a licensed attorney. You should not rely on the Service for high-stakes legal decisions without independent review by counsel.

2. Accounts

  • You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. If you create an account on behalf of a team, the team owner is responsible for the accounts they invite.
  • Keep your credentials confidential. You're responsible for activity under your account, and you should notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access.
  • Roles in a team workspace (owner, admin, member) determine what each user can do. Owners and admins are responsible for the contracts members upload.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Upload documents you don't have rights to or aren't authorized to share with us.
  • Use the Service to harass, defraud, deceive, or harm anyone, or to facilitate illegal activity.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or interfere with the Service, or use it to build a competing product.
  • Probe, scan, or test the Service for vulnerabilities outside of our security disclosure process at security@checkmydoc.co.
  • Submit content that contains malware, infringes intellectual property, or violates third-party privacy rights.

4. Your content

You retain all rights in the documents you upload. By uploading content, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to process it solely to deliver the Service to you — classification, AI review, retrieval in your dashboard, and the audit-log retention described in our Privacy Policy. We do not use your documents to train AI models, and we do not share them with third parties except the sub-processors listed on our security page.

5. AI output disclaimer

The Service uses AI models that can make mistakes. Findings, risk scores, and proposed redlines may be incorrect, incomplete, or outdated. Compliance categories (GDPR, CCPA, SOC 2) reflect general practice, not advice tailored to your jurisdiction or the specific deal in front of you. Do not sign a contract based solely on output from the Service. Treat our findings as a first pass to take to a licensed attorney.

6. Plans and billing

  • Free— two document reviews per workspace, lifetime, no payment required.
  • Pay-Per-Doc— a one-time purchase of three document review credits. Credits do not expire, do not auto-renew, and are consumed one per review.
  • Starter, Pro, and Scale— recurring subscriptions billed monthly or annually. Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled. Pro charges per-document top-ups once the included quota is reached, billed in arrears.
  • You can cancel a subscription at any time from Settings → Billing, or by emailing billing@checkmydoc.co. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; we don't prorate partial periods.
  • We may change prices on a going-forward basis. We'll give at least 30 days' notice via email before any price change affects you.
  • CheckMyDoc is the seller of record for your purchase. Card payments are processed on our behalf by Flitt, our payment processor; card details are submitted directly to Flitt and never reach our servers. CheckMyDoc, not Flitt, is your counterparty for the transaction.
  • Prices are shown exclusive of tax. Where we are required to charge VAT, sales tax, or an equivalent, it is added at checkout and shown on your invoice; where you are required to self-account for tax under a reverse-charge mechanism, you remain responsible for doing so. You are responsible for any withholding or transfer taxes imposed in your own jurisdiction.

7. Refunds

Subscription fees are non-refundable once the billing period has started, but you can cancel auto-renewal at any time. If your first paid review is unusable, email billing@checkmydoc.co within 30 days for a goodwill refund. Full details are in our Refund Policy.

8. Termination

You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for material breach of these Terms, including violations of the acceptable-use rules or non-payment. Where reasonable, we'll give notice and a chance to cure first. After termination we'll delete account data per our retention schedule in the Privacy Policy.

9. Service availability

We aim for high availability but don't guarantee uninterrupted access. Scale customers receive a separate service-level commitment. We may perform planned maintenance with notice and emergency maintenance without notice when needed for security or stability.

10. Warranty disclaimer

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” We disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and warranties arising from course of dealing or usage of trade. We do not warrant that the Service will be error-free or that the AI output will be accurate or complete.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, CheckMyDoc and its officers, employees, and affiliates are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill arising out of your use of the Service. Our aggregate liability for any claim is capped at the greater of $100 or the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. Some jurisdictions don't allow these limitations; in those places our liability is limited to the minimum permitted.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from third-party claims arising out of your use of the Service in violation of these Terms, the documents you upload (where you lacked rights to share them with us), or your violation of applicable law.

13. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising under these Terms will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified by email and reflected in the “Last updated” date above. Continuing to use the Service after the updated Terms take effect constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
